Reyes is Master of the Table for the fifth time in 2010 Derby City Classic

Derby City Classic 2010Efren Reyes from the Philippines is the Master of the Table in the 2010 Derby City Classic.

The tournament is comprised of three events. Reyes was second in bank pool, top 25 in one pocket and first in 9-ball. He secured the title several rounds before the end of the last event.

Here are the final results, with field sizes:

Bank pool (352): Winner: John Brumback (USA), $10,000; Runner-up: Efren Reyes (Philippines), $5,000
One pocket (289): Winner: Scott Frost (USA), $12,000; Runner-up: Sylver Ochoa (USA), $6,000
9-ball: (257) Winner: Efren Reyes (Philippines), $16,000; Runner-up: Rodney Morris (USA), $8,000

All-around title (Master of the Table):
  1. Reyes, $20,000
  2. Brumback, $3,000
  3. Alex Pagulayan (Philippines), $2,000
This was Reyes' record fifth all-around-title and also his second 9-ball crown. It was Brumback's second Banks title and it was Frost's first victory in One Pocket, after finishing runner up last year.

Brumback was the defending over-all champion. See Past Champions at the official site for a list of all previous winners.

During the week there were several more events being staged. For instance, Charlie Williams (USA) won the Straight Pool Challenge and Reyes won the Fatboy 10-Ball Challenge for $6,500.

The tournament ran from January 22-30 at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, Elizabeth, Indiana, USA. It was the 12th edition of the event.

John Brumback is Master of the Table in 2009 Derby City Classic

John Brumback from the USA is the Master of the Table in the 2009 Derby City Classic.

The tournament is comprised of three events. Brumback was first in bank pool, top-ten in one pocket and 9th in 9-ball. He bested Johnathan Pinegar (USA) with only half a point, 175.5-175.

Bank pool (398): Winner: John Brumback (USA), $10,000; Runner-up: Rodolfo Luat (Philippines), $5,000
One pocket (333): Winner: John Schmidt (USA), $12,000; Runner-up: Scott Frost (USA), $6,000
9-ball: (341) Winner: Shane Van Boening (USA), $16,000; Runner-up: Lee Van Corteza (Philippines), $8,000

All-around title (Master of the Table):
  1. Brumback, $20,000
  2. Pinegar, $3,000
  3. Luat, $2,000
This was Brumback's first all-around-title and also his first bank pool crown. Earlier he had finished runner-up twice in banks. Schmidt and Van Boening also lifted their first trophies in the event.

Francisco Bustamante (Philippines) was the defending over-all champion but ended outside the top four this year.

During the week there were several more events being staged. For instance, Danny Harriman (USA) beat defending champion Darren Appleton (England) in the final of the Straight Pool Challenge.

The tournament ran from January 23-31 at the Horseshoe Casino and Hotel, Elizabeth, Indiana, USA. It was the 11th edition of the event.

Bustamante wins all-around title in Derby City Classic

Derby City ClassicFrancisco Bustamante from the Philippines is the Master of the Table in the Derby City Classic.

The tournament is comprised of three events. Bustamante was seventh in bank pool, third in one pocket and second in 9-ball.

Bank pool: Winner: Larry Price (USA), $10,000; Runner-up: Sylver Ochoa (USA), $5,000
One pocket: Winner: Gabe Owen (USA), $12,000; Runner-up: Larry Nevel (USA), $6,000
9-ball: Winner: Ralf Souquet (Germany), $17,500; Runner-up: Bustamante, $8,400

All-around title (Master of the Table):
  1. Bustamante, $20,000
  2. Owen, $3,000
  3. Souquet, $2,000
This was Bustamante's first all-around-title. It was Souquet's third 9-ball win after also lifting the trophy in 2004 and 2006.

During the week there were several more events being staged. For instance, Darren Appleton (England) beat Niels Feijen (Netherlands) in the final of the Straight Pool Challenge.

The tournament ran from January 4-12 at the Executive West Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Approximately 400 players took part in each of the three main events.

Reyes is Master of the Table in Derby

Derby City ClassicEfren Reyes from the Philippines won the all-around title in the Derby City Classic.

The tournament is comprised of three events; bank pool, one pocket and 9-ball. Efren Reyes was second in banks, first in one pocket and 43rd in 9-ball.

Here are the final results:

Bank pool: Winner: Stevie Moore (USA), $10,000; Runner-up: Reyes, $5,000
One pocket: Winner: Reyes, $10,000; Runner-up: Cliff Joyner (USA), $6,000
9-ball: Winner: Niels Feijen (Netherlands), $16,800; Runner-up: Rodolfo Luat (Philippines), $8,400

All-around title (Master of the Table):
  1. Reyes, $20,000
  2. Luat, $3,000
  3. Francisco Bustamante (Philippines), $2,000

This was Reyes' fourth all-around-title. He also won in 1999, 2004 and 2005. It was his fifth one pocket title and fourth(!) in a row. In addition he won the 9-ball discipline in 2005.

During the week there were several more events being staged. One of the more interesting was the Straight Pool Challenge where the goal was to make the highest run. Mika Immonen (Finland) won with an impressive 160.

The tournament ran from January 4-13 at the Executive West Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky, USA. More than 400 players took part in each of the three main events.
