It's Peach over Sniegocki in the 2010 Italy Open

2010 Italy OpenDaryl Peach from England bagged his third Euro Tour trophy in the 2010 Italy Open.

In the final the 2007 world 9-ball champion defeated recent EC silver medalist Mateusz Sniegocki (Poland) 9-7. The victory was worth €5000. Sniegocki received €3300 for second place.

The semifinals were one-sided affairs with Peach and Sniegocki both winning 9-2, against Stephan Cohen (French) and Chris Melling (England) respectively.

This was Peach's first win in the Italy Open and third Euro Tour win overall, from four finals. He has previously won the 2007 German Open and the 2009 Portugal Open.

The win lifts him from eighth to second in the Euro Tour Ranking. Losing finalist Sniegocki improved from fifth to fourth. Ralf Souquet (Germany) is still on top and Imran Majid (England) drops one place to third.

The tournament was played 15-17 April 2010 at the Basso Hotels & Resorts Spa, Treviso, Italy. It was the second event of seven on the 2010 Euro Tour. Next up is the German Open which runs from 10-12 June 2010.

Alcaide wins 2009 Italy Open

David Alcaide from Spain won the 2009 Italy Open for his first ever Euro Tour title.

In the final Alcaide defeated Germany's all-time Euro Tour leader Ralf Souquet 9-5. The victory was worth €5000 with Souquet getting €3300 for second place.

The semi-finals saw Alcaide trounce England's Craig Osborne 9-2 and Souquet scrape past countryman Marko Vogel 9-4.

Alcaide's previous best on the Euro Tour were three semi-final spots. It was Spain's second win with Samir Kaddur winning the 2004 Denmark Open. This was Souquet's 25th final, of which he has won a Tour-leading 15 times. The German legend is on a terrific run. His last six finishes is 5th, 1st, 1st, 5th, 3rd and 2nd.

Defending champion Darren Appleton (England) lost 9-6 to Mateusz Sniegocki (Poland) in the last 32.

The win took Alcaide from 15th to fourth in the Euro Tour Ranking. Losing finalist Souquet improved from second to first. Former leader Niels Feijen (Netherlands) dropped to second after a disappointing 9th place and Nick van den Berg (Netherlands) stayed in third.

The tournament was played 26-28 March at the Holiday Inn, Castel Volturno, Italy. It was the second event of seven on the 2009 Euro Tour. Next up is the German Open which runs from May 21-23 2009. It will be the 99th event on the Euro Tour but the first with 10-ball.

Darren Appleton captures Italy Open

Darren Appleton continued England's recent dominance on the Euro Tour by winning the Dynamic Italy Open.

In the final the former UK eightball player defeated home favourite Bruno Muratore 9-2 to win €6000. Muratore took home €3800 as runner-up.

In the semi-finals Appleton defeated countryman Mark Gray 9-6 and Muratore defeated Austria's Martin Kempter 9-2.

This was Appleton's first final appearance on the Euro Tour. He must enjoy this place as his previous best finish, tied third, was in last year's edition of the event.

Defending champion Christian Reimering (Germany) lost 9-8 to Muratore in the round of 32.

The win takes Appleton from 30th to 17th in the Euro Tour Ranking. Losing finalist Muratore stays in third. Mark Gray (England) holds on to the top position. Tony Drago (Malta) improves from fifth to second.

The tournament was played 10-12 April at the Holiday Inn Resort, Castel Voturno, Italy. It was the second event of seven on the 2008 Euro Tour. The next stop is the Dynamic German Open which runs from 22-24 May, 2008.

Christian Reimering victorious in Italian Open

Christian Reimering from Germany won the PoolComps.com Italian Open.

In the final he defeated Russia's Konstantin Stepanov 10-6 and won €5000. Stepanov took home €3300 for the runner-up position.

In the semi-finals Reimering beat Marco Tschudi from Switzerland and Stepanov defeated England's Darren Appleton .

This was Reimering's second win on the Euro Tour. He also won the 2005 Costa del Sol Open in Malaga, Spain.

Stepanov is in terrific form this year. He was second in the Czech Open and also won a silver and a bronze medal in the recent European Championships.

Defending champion Imram Majid (England) ended up in 33rd position.

With this victory Reimering jumps from 22th to sixth in the Euro Tour Ranking. Losing finalist Stepanov moves from 10th to fifth.

Oliver Ortmann (Germany) leaps past Niels Feijen (Netherlands) to become the new ranking leader. Fabio Petroni (Italy) moves from fourth to third and Thomas Engert (Germany) drops from second to fourth.

The tournament was played 11-14 April at Castel Volturno, Napels, Italy. It was the second Euro Tour event of the season. Next stop is the German Open (May 2-6).

Majid wins in Italy

Englishman Imran Majid won the Dynamic Billard Italian Open.

On his way he knocked out many top players. After overcoming home favourite Fabio Petroni 9-8 in the first round he topped snooker pro Mark Gray in the next round. In the quarter-final he won 9-5 over Dutch star Nick van den Berg. After that he ousted Niels Feijen (Netherlands) 9-5 in the semis before beating ranking leader Thomas Engert (Germany) 9-4 in the final.

The win takes Majid to No.3 in the Euro Tour Ranking. Engert retains his lead and van den Berg stays in second place.
