England's Shaun Murphy won the Malta Cup for his second ranking title. In a one-sided final he beat Welshman Ryan Day 9-4.
This was Murphy's first major win since becoming world champion in 2005.
The win took him from 10th to fifth in the provisional rankings. Day improved from 18th to 10th. Ken Doherty (Ireland) is the new leader, followed by Graeme Dott from Scotland. They both overtook John Higgins (Scotland) who is now in third spot.
The event took place in Hilton Conference Centre, Portamoso, Malta Jan 28 - Feb 4, 2007.
