Yuan-Chun Lin from Taiwan won the Women's World 9-Ball Championship.
In the final she defeated two-time winner Ga Young Kim (South Korea) 11-7 to grab the $20,000 first prize. Kim got $10,000 as runner-up.
Lin defeated England's three-time world champion Allison Fisher 9-8 in the semi-finals, after Fisher missed the nine leading 8-7. Kim beat Jasmin Ouschan (Austria) 9-6 from 6-3 down.
Last year's champion Xiaoting Pang (China) was denied her chance to defend the title after not getting her visa on time.
Lin's greatest result before this win was first place in the 2006 Asian Games.
The tournament ran from April 3-6, 2008, at the Cuemaster Pool Club, in Taipei City, Taiwan.
