Xiaoting Pan wins Women's World 9-Ball Championship

China's Xiaoting Pan won the Women's World 9-Ball Championship.

In the final she defeated Rubilen Amit (Philippines) 11-5 to grab the $20,000 first prize. Amit's runner-up place earned her $10,000. Pan overcame Janice Pei-Chen Tsai from Taiwan 9-4 in the semi-finals. Amit won 9-6 over Japan's Yukiko Hamanishi.

Defending champion Ga-Young Kim (South Korea) was ousted by Amit in the quarter-finals.

The event was once again dominated by the Asians. A number of the European big guns failed to shine. Allison Fisher (England) went out in the group stages. Austrian sensation Jasmin Ouschan lost in the Last 16.

This is turning out to be a great year for Pan. She recently won the Great Lakes Classic on the WPBA Tour.

The tournament ran from April 5-8, 2007, in Tao-Yuan, Taiwan.
