Second win in a row for Jaspers in Mexico World Cup

Dick Jaspers from Netherlands took his second consecutive three cushion title by capturing the World Cup event in Mexico.

The final was a repeat of the recent Portugal event with Jaspers again downing Daniel Sanchez (Spain) in four sets (3-1). This time the frame scores were 7-15, 15-4, 15-8 and 15-14. Tying for third were Marco Zanetti (Italy) and defending champion Frédéric Caudron from Belgium.

Martin Horn (Germany) had the highest general average of 2.000 while Zanetti had the highest single match average of 3.000. The two players also tied for highest run with 14.

This was Jaspers' 16th World Cup win and second in a row.

The win takes Jaspers from second to first in the World Cup Ranking. Sanchez advanced from fifth to third. Caudron drops to second place.

Jaspers also moves to the top of the World Players Ranking. Sanchez stays in second place and Torbjörn Blomdahl (Sweden) drops from first to third.

The event took place 25-31 August 2008, in the Centro de Convenciones, Irapuato, Mexico. It was the third of six events in the 2008 World Cup. Next event is in South Korea, 29 September - 4 October.
